Viewpoint at Nong Khiaw
Nong Khiaw is about few hours away from the city of Luang Prabang, Laos. It’s a small town by the river and surrounded by majestic karst limestone mountains. Viewpoint at Nong Khiaw is one of an attraction place in Nong Khiaw especially for those interested in hiking and adventure sports. It’s also a place for those who love to see the beauty of nature from the top of the mountain.
The top view is literally 360 degree. From the top of viewpoint, the landscape is so marvelous with a small town view surrounded by the mountains and the river. The temperature is cold around 20 celcius. The is a hut built on the top of Viewpoint at Nongkhiaw. People coming to rest ans enjoy the view from the hut. Its a great camping place for those come with family member.
Hiking to the summit of viewpoint only take around 50 minutes to 1 hour and half. The climb is a bit tough especially for beginner and non hiker. At some point, hikers need to us their hand to climb by the rope. Enough water is needed. The entrance open at 6 am and close at 4 pm. The entrance just nearby the hotel places. Walking distance from the hotel to entrance is about 1 km. At entrance, there will be a local guy who will collect the fees to enter Pointview. The fees to hike Viewpoint is 20000 kip. Basically part of this fee will be collected as donation for the local community.
From the mainroad, you will see the signboard written ViewPoint leading you to the entrance. At entrance you will see a big bomb shell display and its written a warning that few bomb still undiscover in this viewpoint area. Hiker are advise to follow the rules and did not cross forbidden area to avoid any issues happen. Viewpoint is recommended to climb early in the morning as the morning view from the top is really stunning and the temperature is cold.
